Agência Nacional do Petróleo de SãoTomé e Principe (ANP-STP) a.k.a. National Petroleum Agency is pleased to announce resolution of the preemption rights for Petroleum Exploration within its territorial waters. In accordance with these preemptions rights, Equator Exploration and ERHC have each been awarded two blocks subject to PSC negotiation which will include a competitive work program. The details of the block awards are as follows;
Equator Exploration Block 5(Zone A) and Block 12(Zone B)
ERHC Block 4(Zone A) and Block 11(Zone B)
The seven (7) remaining Blocks of the EEZ, as follow, will be made available for the STP First Licensing Round that will open on March 2nd 2010 at the APPEX Conference in London:
Zone A: Blocks 1, 2, 3 and 6
Zone B: Blocks 7, 8 and 13

Implementing EITI in the Nigeria-SaoTome&Principe Joint Development Zone
At the invitation of the World Bank, a meeting of representatives of the national EITI multi-stakeholders committees and representatives of the operators (Chevron) and JDA was convened on March 23 rd, 2009 in Lagos-Nigeria to prepare a proposal to implement the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative in Joint Development Zone.

São Tome and Príncipe in the Founding Conference of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)
Representatives of 124 States including SaoTome and Principe, 1 regional intergovernmental economic integration organization, the European Community and six international organizations whose work is related to that of the IRENA, participated in the Conference of the First Meeting of the Preparatory Commission for the foundation of an International Renewable Energy Agency(IRENA), held in Bonn-Germany on 26/27 January 2009.
SaoTome and Principe was among of 75 States participating in the Conference that signed the Statute during the signing ceremony becoming State member of the IRENA; The Government was represented by Mr. Tomé Vera Cruz, Special Adviser to the Minister of Natural Resources, Energy and Environment and Mr. Luis dos Prazeres, Executive Director of National Petroleum Agency.
IRENA will be placed on providing upon request, policy advice for national governments, facilitate technology transfer and capacity building. The agency will work in close coordination with other related international organizations.
